Safari Drives- Real Life Lion King

My last post about my two weeks in South Africa is about a safari, one of my most favorite experiences ever.

We flew into Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport from Johannesburg and then took a bus to our hotel which was just outside of Kruger Gate. Kruger National Park is one of the largest game reserves in Africa covering 19,458 square kilometers. The park was established in 1926 and the there were only three tourist cars on the opening day in 1927 and now there is limit to how many cars are allowed in per day due to popularity.

We did three drives: morning, night and day. That was plenty. All three were incredible and we were lucky enough to see the big five: lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant and buffalo. A few of my favorite moments was seeing giraffes, they are such beautiful and majestic creatures and seeing about forty elephants cross a river rand the road in front of our truck. It was the perfect way to end the trip.

I don’t want to read your post, what should I know

  • A great safari option is drives in Kruger National Park
  • Three is the perfect amount: morning, night and day
  • KEEP an eye out for all animals and enjoy!
